Club Night – Tuesday 26th November, 2013

Folks,

Alistair and Stuart will be running the Battle of Barra scenario that they set up for filming last week using rules written by Neil Thomas. Folks are free to join in if they wish.

Filming went well last week. The session with the filmmakers lasted from 8.00 until nearly 1030! It was friendly and really interactive and in the end they they took four “takes” with Stuart and Alistair.

Take 1: Alistair gave some historical background to the conflict and details about the main participants.

Take 2: Stuart spoke about the battlefield and the strategic options for the commanders.

Take 3: Alistair spoke about the aftermath of the battle and the economic warfare – the harrying of Buchan.

Take 4: Stuart used the Ebob miniatures to demonstrate the armour, weapons and tactics of the period.

Nothing else planned so if you fancy putting something on let us know.

Hope to see you all this week.

Club Night – Tuesday 19th, 2013

Folks,

A few weeks ago Isabel Page of the Making Meldrum Better Amenities Community Interest Company got in touch with the club regarding a film project about celebrating Oldmeldrum and its history. The group have managed to get funding from the council to employ three film graduates, who will start filming this week.

One of the topics they wish to cover will be the Battle of Barra. Alistair and our newest member Stuart Insch have been working together to put together a 6 x 4 diorama using figures from their collections and those loaned to Alistair from ebob miniatures. Alistair has arranged with Isabel to carry out the filming on Tuesday and would appreciate any help that other members can provide.

Club Night – Tuesday 12th November, 2013

Folks,

After a very successful day (although no silver wear this time!) at TARGE 2013 in Kirriemuir, where we ran 5 games of the Bruneval Raid, we’re looking to have a bit of a relaxing evening. This week we’re planning to run a couple of simple boardgames in order to let the members overworked brains get a little rest!

Even great generals need their rest!

Even great generals need their rest!

No decision made on which game we’ll play yet but we’ll see who turns up with what and take it from there.

Hope to see you all soon.

Best regards,

OWG

Club Night – Tuesday 5th November, 2013

Folks,

Tonight will be the last run-through of the Bruneval Raid scenario before going down to Kirriemuir this weekend.

We had a good few games on Sunday and feel we have the game ready for Joe Public to enjoy. A final evening spent polishing off the terrain should see it finished too.

We’ll also no doubt be sorting out transport for heading down to Kirriemuir to avoid the club leaving a huge carbon footprint! Anyway if you can make it along this week that would be great.

Hope to see you all soon.

Best regards,

OWG

Sunday 3rd November, 2013 – Monthly Wargames Day

Folks,

It’s time for our monthly game day again. This month will see the club running the Bruneval Raid scenario ahead of Targe next weekend (Saturday 9th) in Kirriemuir.

28-02

We will be there from 10am until around 4pm and will run the game a few times to get folks used to the scenario and rules. We may also put on a board game or two to fill some of the time. The terrain will then be left set-up for running a final check on Tuesday. The more folks we can get a long the better. Hope to see you all there.

Best regards,

OWG
